When Anthropic releases a new model, our customers' question arrives the same day: "when do I get it?". This time the answer is today. Opus 5 now appears in the engine selector of your agents.
On the agent you want: Settings → AI Engine → Claude Opus 5. That's it. There's no migration or reconfiguration, and you can have different agents with different engines depending on what each one does.
What changes in practice
Beyond the announcement, here's what it means for an agent that serves your customers:
When it makes sense and when it doesn't
A more powerful engine isn't automatically the best choice for everything. Our recommendation, hand on heart:
- Yes for agents that sell, quote, negotiate or follow processes with rules and exceptions.
- Yes for long conversations where losing context costs a sale.
- Not needed for simple, repetitive answers — opening hours, an address, an order status. There a lighter engine answers just as well and faster.
The elegant thing about having it per agent is exactly that: you can put Opus 5 on the sales agent and leave the first-line support agent on a more economical engine.
We integrate new engines as soon as they become available and leave them selectable, not imposed. Nobody migrates by accident: agents stay on the engine they had until you decide to change it.
Try it this week on your sales agent and compare. The difference shows up in the hard conversations, not the easy ones.
